The Flower Adornment Sutra - Chapter Two

In this chapter, the assembly requests Dharma by asking questions about the Buddha's virtues, abilities, and characteristics. Sakyamuni Buddha then emits light to summon all Bodhisattvas with affinities, who gather like clouds in the bodhimanda. A series of auspicious portents manifest, namely: the Buddha emits light that illuminates all lands, an immense lotus appears, and numberous Bodhisattvas emerge from the light and praise the Buddha's virtues.
